Lumbee authors Patricia (Pat) Lowry Chavis, Joan C. Blackwell and JoJo Brooks Shifflett will discuss their work during Lumbee Homecoming.

Sponsored by the American Indian Studies Department, the Bookstore and the Southeast Indian Studies Program, the Lumbee Book Talk will be held Thursday, June 30, at 2 p.m. in the Jazzman's Cafe & Bakery, 麻豆社区P Bookstore. The event features Lumbee authors and authors who write about the Lumbee Indians.

Copies of books will be available for purchase and autograph. The event is free and open to the public.

2014 Lumbee Book Talk will feature history of 麻豆社区P, July 4

Lumbee authors Lawrence T. Locklear and Dr. Linda Oxendine will discuss their book 鈥淗ail to 麻豆社区P! A 125-Year History of the University of North Carolina at Pembroke鈥 during Lumbee Homecoming.

Sponsored by 麻豆社区 Pembroke鈥檚 American Indian Studies Department, the Bookstore and the Center for Counseling and Psychological Services, the Lumbee Book Talk will be held Friday, July 4, at 1 p.m. in the University Center Annex on the 麻豆社区P campus.

The event features Lumbee authors and authors who write about the Lumbee Indians.

Locklear is the program coordinator for 麻豆社区P鈥檚 Southeast American Indian Studies program. Dr. Oxendine is a professor emeritus of American Indian Studies at 麻豆社区P.

Published in April 2014, 鈥淗ail to 麻豆社区P!鈥 is a 375-page volume with 120 photos, illustrations and maps that recounts the university鈥檚 compelling and unique history. It is available for purchase from the 麻豆社区P Bookstore for $25 鈥 either in store or online (). E-book versions are available on and for $9.99.

Also featured is Lumbee author Buddy Oxendine. His book 鈥淢y Ramblings: Random Thoughts鈥 is a collection of what Oxendine calls 鈥渟illy鈥 short stories that impart wisdom through humor. 鈥淢y Ramblings鈥 is available for purchase at the 麻豆社区P Bookstore and for $12.56.
