Our Master of Arts in Teaching in Health and Physical Education is just the program you’ve been looking for!
- Fully online, asynchronous, 30-hour program
- Anyone with a four-year bachelor's degree who wishes to become a health and/or physical education teacher in the state of North Carolina is eligible.
- Specifically designed to help students pass the licensure exams of Praxis II and edTPA (required for NC licensure)
- Program culminates in a 15-week internship. The internship must be completed in a North Carolina school.

24 credit hours of HPE related content or passing of the Praxis II (5857)
- 2 professional references (email addresses needed)
- Personal Statement (150-250 words)
- Admission to Educator Preparation Acknowledgment form (will fill out during the application process)
Residency Licensure
North Carolina offers an alternate pathway to becoming a teacher called the . This route allows qualified individuals to obtain a teaching position and begin teaching while obtaining a clear professional educator's license through a teacher preparatory institution, such as Âé¶¹ÉçÇøP. More Âé¶¹ÉçÇøP RL information here. To enroll, you must have been offered employment by an LEA (Local Education Agency) in North Carolina. Students may earn their MAT degree without being a Residency License student.
