Jamie Warfle is from Fayetteville, NC and graduated from Jack Britt High School in Fayetteville. She really liked the fact that �鶹����P was close to home and that the �鶹����P campus was so easy to navigate.  

In May of 2020 Jamie graduated with a bachelor’s degree in secondary math education. Jamie started at �鶹����P majoring in elementary education but in her junior year she changed her major to secondary math education. Jamie was a member of the Honors College and she participated in the Rise Together club her junior and senior year when it was formed. She completed a student teaching internship at Terry Sanford High School in Fayetteville and worked for Trio and the Center for Student Success as a tutor and was a SI (supplemental Instructor) for Cal with apps and college algebra. Jamie felt the most rewarding aspect of the Honors College was that it challenged her to think outside of the box to solve problems. Jamie also considered the free printing in Hickory Hall for honors students very beneficial. 

Jamie’s senior project looked at curricula for mathematics in different countries and compared national rankings of math proficiency. She decided to go with this topic because she heard the US was ranked as one of the weakest countries and she wanted to understand why and how this could be improved.  

After graduation Jamie plans to begin a career in North Carolina and pursue a master’s degree in education. The advice Jamie would like to give “is to take advantage of the opportunities that they present you and take the time to really think through your honors project in HON 4000 and HON 4500.”
