Dr. Susan Peters has a BS in industrial engineering (Millikin University), an MBA (Kent State University) and a PhD in international business and marketing (Saint Louis University). She worked as an engineer and in management for three major firms throughout the US. In the early 1990s, she moved to Poland where she started her first business. She taught at California State Polytechnic University, leaving as full professor and department chair eight years later. At Francis Marion University, she was the Forrest S. Williams Chair in Entrepreneurship and Director for the Center for Entrepreneurship for eight years. In 2017 she joined University of North Carolina at Pembroke as the Thomas Family Distinguished Professor in Entrepreneurship. In addition, she serves as the Management, Marketing, and International Business department chair. She has won a coveted American Council on Education year fellowship where she focused on retention, particularly of first-generation students.

She writes in the area of cross-cultural business issues, entrepreneurship, creativity and case research, the latter garnering her best paper awards and invited presentations. She teaches case method to faculty internationally. She serves as a fellow of the Southeast Case Research Association and as editor of their South East Case Research journal. Her “side hustle” is being the organist for her church. When she has free time, she loves to quilt
